Why do soap makers buy fragrances like crazy people, but not colorants? The answer is simple. For the most part as long as your colorant is soap stable
They can be mixed. To obtain the color you want. This is another reason to do colorant tests. It's also important to note that a color will appear different based on proximity. Take the following images as a guide.

At first glance it appears as tho I used neon yellow in the top half. Even when you see the top picture. But let's take them side by side.

This is almost right. Notice here that electric orange appears to match love and sunshine on the top half. Yet if you view the bottom half the love and sunshine does not appear to match electric orange. Now let's take a look at the next image.

Now our eyes can see this is a match on both the top and bottom. So why is this important? Because color is an interpretation.
The colorant in the container looks different than it does in the soap because of light. The way light hits the surface of things that are too small for the eye to see changes the way it looks. Mica which is very airy and light is vastly different than soap. So it looks different. Simply put all of this means that color doesn't need to be exact.
Especially when dealing with a chemical reaction. So long as it is similar it passes. It's equally important to remember that proximity can vastly change the appearance of a color. In the layered version love and sunshine appears washed out and dull. Yet it appears almost the same color as neon yellow in the swirled soap.
